Friends of OSU Opera was founded in 1991 under the name of Opera Theater Corvallis.
It is the mission of Friends of OSU Opera is to
- produce opera and related performing arts,
- create partnerships with Oregon State University and/or other relevant organizations, and
- educate, entertain, and enrich the cultural lives of those living in the central Willamette Valley of Oregon (adopted 2004)
FOSUO is involved in a number of community opera-related events, including lectures, ballet, related concerts, and full-scale productions.
